Defining ‘Nude’

      No Comments on Defining ‘Nude’

To be naked is to be deprived of our clothes, and the word implies some of the  embarrassment most of us feel in that condition. The word “nude,” on the other  hand, carries, in educated usage, no uncomfortable overtone. The vague image it  projects into the mind is not of a huddled and defenseless body, but of a  balanced, prosperous, and confident body: the body re-formed.

~ Kenneth MacKenzie Clark, Baron of Saltwood

The dictionary definition of ‘nude’ is something along the lines of “to be without clothes,” or “without covering.”

The language of Goo’Guhll (as spoken in the land of Google) seems to define ‘nude’ as ‘porn’.  That’s not an official definition, mind you.  It’s clearly the definition, nonetheless.  Let’s just say I went looking for a nude image earlier tonight, and I didn’t exactly find what I was expecting.

scooby doo crew

It’s a good thing I’m not squicky about sex.

As a friendly caution though, it might be a good idea to turn on the parental filters when your kids go looking for pictures of Scooby Doo and crew.

Just…ya know…  Sayin’.

And what the heck, you are wondering, is your point, Feve?

I don’t have one.

But I feel about as sexy as an unshaved hippie chick’s armpit after two hours of sweatbox yoga.  Grieving does that to a girl.  Tears and snot are not attractive.

Plus, after Monday’s post, I feel…

Naked.

Exposed.

But not in the usual Wanton Wednesday way.  So there’ll be no nudes from me today.

For the Foot Groupies

I need some time to get my feet back under me again.  Thanks to all of you who have offered your support and understanding this week.  I appreciate it more than you know.

The amusing and unexpected things you can find on the internet. I forget what recipe I was looking up, but I googled a brand of spaghetti sauce and wound up with a bunch of sites devoted to nude pregnant women. One G and two G’s are completely different kinds of saucy.

A friend of mine was building a deck for his house. He googled deck designs. One of the sites he went to had all kinds of weird names like “Palm Trees” and “Seashores”. Then he figured out they were talking about designs for decks of cards.

There is also a big difference between “White House.gov” and “White House.com”

I have a small, framed collection of original Petty pin-up calendar girls from 1946. I’ve heard there are decks of cards available with the same artwork on them. I’d like to get my hands on those. 😉
