You never know what life will throw your way. I was watching a History channel program about the invasion of Normandy, paratroopers were jumping. My son walked in the room and said, “I’d like to do that.” I said, “What jump out of a perfectly good airplane at really low altitude with people shooting at you?”
Is that what he meant?
No, but anytime he complained that “Iowa is boring” I would remind him that excitement doesn’t always equate fun, then I would say that if he really craved excitement that much he could run through the woods and I’d shoot over his head. Interestingly, the last time I went hunting with my dad he chided me for not shooting a pheasant that flew up. Dad, it flew 2 feet over your head, I’m not going to shoot then.
