Sum Total Appreciation

Typically I don’t pay much attention to my blog statistics.  Mostly because I recognized long ago that the ‘hits’ I get have nothing to do with the quality of interactions that occur here in my little slice of cyberspace, but also because I find WordPress’s numbers to be (a) cumbersome, and (b) inaccurate.

RE: (b) ~ Anyone who reads posts via email is not counted as a viewer, and any viewer who scrolls through the home page and/or archives without clicking on the permalinks of the posts they view aren’t counted either.  (If you are a blogger and didn’t already know that, you do now.  See?  Full of helpful information, am I.)  So what good does it really do me to be told that 11 people viewed this post?  Simple answer:  NONE.

So for those reasons (and a few others, like:  I lack the appropriate level of self absorption  -and-  I have too short of an attention span), I normally glance over the year-end stats firework show that WordPress throws my way and then forget all about it.  I especially never post about my stats.

never [nev-er]:  (adverb) sort of like ever, only not

There are more interesting things to write about, after all.  Like, ME!  And when we’re done talking about me, we can talk about…  ME!!!  This is my blog after all.  What else did you expect me to talk about?

This year I actually have some stats worth sharing.

Because they were created by some people I appreciate.

So I am going to end this 2014 year of blogging with some (stats-related and non-stats-related) thank-yous.

For sending people my way (top referrers):

  • Thank you, Tom, for creating She-Held, which is not only a great FLR resource site, but also has people clicking their mouses (heh) in my direction.
  • Thank you, Serendipity, for being such an awesome Momma Domme.  I miss your posts.  People still find them though, and through you, they find me.

For being such engaging conversationalists (top commenters):

  • Thank you, Jayne, my fellow Apache pilot, for sharing your journey, and for *getting it* that “falling” has nothing to do with “in love.”
  • Thank you, Wild, for your droll digressions and for always being open to talking about anything.  Your mind is a maze, and I am constantly amazed by what I find.  You’re the closest specimen to a mad scientist I’ve ever met.  (Except we’ve never ‘met’.  Yet.)

For picking such great posts:

Thank you to all of you who read regularly, for responding so beautifully to the post I wrote about my relationship with my husband.  It was the most viewed, most commented, and second most ‘Liked’ post I wrote this year.  The number one ‘Liked’ was the second most viewed.  Taken together, they are titled:

Faithfully, FUCK ME

Which makes me grin.  Because heeeellloooo…  Yes, please!  😀

For Opening Up:

Thank you to those of you who participated in this year’s Guest Event, for sharing yourselves so beautifully.  It was a pleasure to read what you wrote.  Change can be so difficult to navigate.  Yet so many of you manage to do so with grace.

For Being Here:

Thank YOU.  (Yes, YOU, my bloggy audience!)  Truly.  I appreciate you all.

For all you unique and special snowflakes:

      Those pesky suffixes… 😛

      I appreciate that I’m appreciated. 😉

Happy New Year to you and yours. I look forward to hearing more from you in 2015. 🙂

Happy New Year! Popping corks and streamers sounds like such fun. I don’t check the stats here very often either. New year and a new place, lots of change going on, and no more rubber bands.

You do learn something new everyday. I’m one of those that tends to subscribe and read the e-mail version more and more these days. You and many other bloggers aren’t getting your fair counter stats by my laziness and for that I’ll try to do better in 2015.

    Have a great new year!

      I wasn’t complaining; just sharing information. 🙂

I tend to open/enlarge posts right inside the WP Reader, as I don’t typically subscribe to emails, and those”views” don’t get counted either. The system is what’s flawed, not the readers. You don’t need to change a thing. 🙂

      Have a fantastic 2015!

I’d like to take this moment to be serious and say that there are ways to relate to people, as we’ve spoken about, and I think we prefer to cut the bullshit out because it allows a freedom to be and say things without worry to a great degree. I could go on about that but the point is that finding another to relate to in that way is not common. It is a rare find for me and I’m lucky to count you as friend Mrs Fever. xo, Jayne

Blogging makes for unique bedfellows. I’m very glad to have found such a compatible snuggle partner, my friend.

I hope 2015 brings you wonderful new experiences in your new place.
