Midsummer Night’s Un-Dreaming

Taken well after midnight during an early-August bout of heat-induced insomnia.

I have no love for lack of sleep, but I sorely miss the summer heat.

My body has changed a lot over the past couple years. I used to be my own heating system; my body was a blast furnace and I couldn’t stand the heat because I was in a constant state of ‘hot flash’ and the ambient temperature just made it worse. Now though, I feel even the slightest hint of coldness to my bones and find myself seeking warmth constantly.

I’m just glad he wasn’t climbing on me that night. (He seems to think I’m his personal pillow, which is an adorable indulgence I allow for the most part because he’s so darned cute and snuggly. But NOT when it’s hot!) 🙂
