Grace Potter and the Nocturnals: The Lion, The Beast, The Beat
Steady now…
Steady now…
Don’t fear what you can’t see.
Ready now…
Ready now…
I’ll hold on to you, you hold on to me.
I found the heart of a lion in the belly of the beast,
And I held it in my hand and I could feel…
I could feel…
Feel the beat.
Gas up the Easy Rider and head out for Nevada,
‘Cuz somebody let the beast out, baby.
It’s time to meet your Maker,
Make the road your undertaker,
‘Cuz somebody let the beast out, baby.
Can’t stop the beat, can’t stop the beat.
Run but you can’t hide from the heat.
When life is a record, playing on repeat,
I’m running wild with the lion, the beast, the beat.
So don’t you try to tame my lion,
Just ride on the horizon,
‘Cuz somebody let the beast out, baby.
Yeah we all hide our desire, then we feel the beat like fire.
Well somebody let the beast out, baby.
Can’t stop the beat, can’t stop the beat.
Run but you can’t hide from the heat.
When life is a record, playing on repeat,
I’m running wild with the lion, the beast, the beat.
The lion!
The beast!
Can’t stop the beat, can’t stop the beat.
Run but you can’t hide from the heat.
When life is a record, playing on repeat,
I’m running wild with the lion, the beast, the beat.
When is the Animaniacs World Song? 🙂
Somewhere between Chopin and Chris Cornell. 😉
That sounds right. 🙂
Well, I thought so Brain… But what if it smells left?

She is awesome in concert – this is a great song too. Oasis, Medicine Woamn…I love her and she can give a concert that will leave you spinning!
Thus, “Amazing” Grace. 😉
I haven’t seen her live, but if her performance energy can grip me the way it does via video… WOW. I would LOVE to see her in person.
This is one of my favorites:
I once saw – Bruce Springsteen Live and not being but a casual fan – I knew he was giving his “real” fans one hell of a show on every song. He sings the shit out of every song. Grace and the band do the same exact thing – only I knew almost every one. She has such range – rock and roll to balled besides the energy she gives off! Damn! I saw her at at small venue (2300 seats) It was incredible. GO – you won’t be disappointed.
When she comes to my neck of the woods, I’ll be there. Front and center.
You know she has a vision problem – she should wear thick glasses or get surgery but she doesn’t want to. Hence – her trance like dancing and singing and basically getting lost in the performances…you’ll see. : )
This brings to mind a quote I found from Adele: I make music for ears, not eyes.
There’s a line in Went to a Garden Party where people are disappointed because he doesn’t look the same.
Are you trying to tell me you’re disappointed, Wild?
Perhaps you were expecting something a little more like this:
Not disappointed at all. The music for ears comment made me think of Garden Party. On faceplace I saw a video of Ted Cruz singing Amazing Grace to the tune of the Gilligan theme.
That would be… Different.
