This is one of the photos I really struggled with whether or not to use during February Photo Fest. The full photo, which shows my face and captures the candlelight behind me as well as the soft blue-white impression of my bath curtain, was striking in its painted-effect colorful variations of light, and I hated to crop it.
Likewise, I hated to not use it at all.
So it became a back-track. A bit of a B-side to the compositions from this album I have so far chosen to release (see here and here).
But somehow I think – regardless of the cropped verse and shortened refrain – that there’s a certain something about this piece that makes it stand alone. It has – if I may say so myself – a touch of joie de vivre.
Or, perhaps: Joie de Feve. 🙂
What do you think?
I think it is a fantastic photo to be used. The addition of the candlelight definitely would have created a certain ambiance, but still, there’s something to be said about a woman in a bubble bath.
Thank you. The glow definitely added a certain something, but overall I like how this turned out. 🙂
It’s just me but you could’ve used some more bubbles… a lot more bubbles.
*laugh*
They were very fizzy when I first got in, but admittedly the bubbles got popped and shrunk pretty quickly. 😉
This is a lovely photo…. Love the softness & your post.
Thank you!
I really like this. Your skin looks so smooth and creamy 🙂
Thanks. I think the way the light and the whiteness worked together created kind of a soft glow through the lens.
You look great thou I personally I would have added more water – cant get my bath deep enough 😉
I grew up with a clawfoot tub, and I *MISS* the deep, up-to-my-neck hot water!
The softness and the colors are perfect! I have had several that I hated to crop, too ( dammit that need for anonymity all to hell, anyway!), but the photo still works beautifully.
I knew someone else would ‘get’ it! Often, I take photos with the crop in mind, so my mind’s eye is already seeing the altered version. But this one wasn’t taken with that approach, which made the whole-composition a bit tougher to “let go” of.
But yes — anonymity is an issue, so while I don’t mind showing pieces of my facial expressions and/or views from unusual (unidentifiable) angles, showing my full face – straight-on and direct-frontal – is just a no-go.
What the world needs much more of:
!!!!!!!!!! Joie de Feve !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
😀
I really love this image!

Thanks! 🙂
Wow what a lovely photo. I think bubble baths are so much soothing. After a long tiring day at work, a bubble bath is my goto activity to relieve all the day’s stress. Putting on some music and relaxing in the tub is my favorite hobby these days. Thank you so much for writing this article. And bring more amazing content like this.
