This transitional time of year — with the yoyo-ing barometer wreaking havoc on my head — I console myself through the migraine pain with the fact that the light is, though erratic in its success, pushing back the darkness.
Bit by bit, the gloom fades.
Slowly, surely, the warmth comes.
And I am once again in springtime-love with the sunlight on my skin.

I am a light-dependent person. Sure nighttime can be fun, but to function well, I need those long days and periods of seasonal brightness to push the demons back down into my deeper corners where they belong. My demons are part of who I am, and I’d probably not be me without them, but they have their place, and sunlight seems to keep them in it.
On a more visceral point, I had to grin at the way my eye ignored the overall composition of the photo and bravely snuck beyond that dragon guardian, and straight to that cute, little, mini-umbrella of a navel. I am a sucker for belly-buttons, and that lazy “t” style is a favorite of mine.

I live on a dreary region; it rains more than 300 days per year here, so by the time I finally get some long-ish sunny days (not warm, necessarily — just sunny) each spring, I’m practically drunk on the light. 🙂
300 days of rain?! Hell, even Noah didn’t have it that bad. If I lived in such a place, I’m sure by day #30 they’d find me swinging from a soggy rope. I give you a lot of credit. I get moody NOW, I can’t even imagine such a lifestyle unless I combatted it with light therapy.
Welcome to the realities of living in the Pacific Northwest. The suicide rate is very high here, no joke. I’m sure depression has much to do with it.
what a beautiful foto. wishing you lots of sunny summery days… as many as you can get anyway.
Thank you! I got to take advantage of the sunshine on Friday and it was lovely. 🙂
Lovely and I just had an adventure with too much sun even under a cloudy sky, though as someone who was stationed in Seattle, I understand well the boost sunlight can bring!
YES — it’s definitely a boost!
I understand well the temptation to think that clouds will shield the rays. I’ve been burned under those conditions myself, and it is no fun!
Beautiful image, Feve. We are still waiting for it to become spring too. Spring this year looks a lot like autumn…

It’s been a chilly spring so far where I live. I’ll take all the sun I can get!
It is so cold and grey here at the moment. I dream of warm sunny days but so far they have been missing. Hopefully soon because like you that light inspires

We are finally getting some sun but not yet the warmth. The days are getting longer though, so I hope the heat will make itself known soon. 🙂
Great photo! Things are looking better with more people getting vaccinated. Some more adventures to look forward to 🙂
