It started, of course — as so many things with us do — because of something I read.
Which I then read to him.
(Well, I read him the title and showed him the picture and he said, “Ohhh…”)
And so, on our most recent grocery shopping trip, I reminded him: We have to get some booze.
(Which, considering that neither of us is much of a drinker, was {1} and unusual thing to say, but also {2} the last thing you’d think we’d need, considering that our fridge contents upon embarking on the aforementioned grocery trip consisted primarily of beer, wine, and vodka. Oh, and mustard.)
So, after waiting approximately 117 years for an employee to come unlock the liquor case at the grocery store, we got ourselves some Jim Beam.
And, after having a ‘preferences’ conversation — Me: “Thighs?” Him: “No, breasts… I’m a breast man.”1 — we also picked up some chicken boobs.
For what purpose? you ask.
To make bourbon chicken.
Like so:
- 1 cup bourbon
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp ginger
- 1/2 tsp whatever multi-seasoning you have on hand
- 2 Tbsp honey
- 3 boneless chicken breasts, halved
Mix the marinade ingredients together and soak the chicken for an hour.
Throw the whole concoction into the crock pot. If the liquid does not fully cover the chicken, add water. Cook on high for 2 hrs.
Eat.
(Or, if you’re me — since I don’t eat meat2 — examine your husband’s expression while he eats. His verdict: This is REALLY good!)
The recipe we borrowed from calls this Crock Pot Bourbon Chicken. Or some such.
Me, though…
I’m alternating between Boozy Boob and Hoochie Chicky Boobies as probable recipe titles.
And there you have the excitement of our weekend.
What kind of intoxicating mischief have YOU been up to lately, hmmm?
.
As I mentioned recently, I am trying to be more… involved… this year in a memes-and-projects kind of way. So I’m adding this bit of yummy-ness to Mmm Mondays, where this week’s prompt photo is largely obscured, but what *is* showing is — surprise… — breasts and thighs. *laugh*
1He *is* a thigh man though.
2Fun Fact = I’m a pescatarian.
Mixology is a perennial sport around here, so we’re always toying with something new……either discovered or personally concocted. In fact just yesterday I was mixing things for my son and daughter at a gathering at his new apartment. As for me? A good friend suggested a Veaux Carre, and I tried and liked it, adding it to the list of go-to’s. Also got to try Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin and was impressed with its smooth complexity.
(when it comes to booze I could go on for a long while, fortunately my one friend I mentioned is the same and so we both can have long conversations of things to try, recent discoveries, and new items that have been recently released.)

I don’t drink much and I definitely don’t mix drinks for anyone. I’m more of the “just serve me something tasty” type. *laugh*
Most of my gang fall into that same category (“just make me something”) though my daughter has recently (like for the past year or so) gotten more experimental after I set her up with a kind of “starter bar” and a good cocktail book. So she’s now texting me her finds as well. Rosa has also expanded her palette of likes over the years but she is not one to mix anything………………..she just employs my efforts. LOL
I’m going with Hootchie Boobies! (And think this may make a wonderful addition to Mmm Mondays recipes, if you don’t mind?)
Loved this! Very sassy and fun and full of lip-licking material 🙂

Go for it! 🙂
Just wondering if you made a veggie version of something else with the sauce. I am plant-based so always looking for things wheee I can do one version for me and another for him. Missy x
I am going to play with the bourbon. I have what I call “un-meat” — chik’n strips that are plant-based vegan ‘chicken’ and I think I might do a similar meal for myself with those. If you have/use something similar, I’d say “go for it!” Elsewise, I think it could be a good marinade for veggie kabobs. 🙂
This was a fabulous anecdote, I love the interplay between you and him, always makes me chuckle.
I love this kind of sauce but, like you, am pescatarian, so am wondering if it might work on salmon (probs less cooking time) or as you say, make a marinade for the plant based products which pretend to be meat (they are very naughty for sucking up the sauces though, don’t you find? so again less cooking time)
I hope we see more of each other in the memes in 2022
I think a traditional bake would work with this marinade if you made salmon. In the crock pot, not so much. But worth a try!
what a great recipe. Will bookmark this page
Thanks Feve
