So after a nine-day bout with head pain — and a little nervous about the type of pain, because {a} it’s not my ‘typical’ migraine, and {b} thinking, “Is something more serious wrong? Like with my brain?” (I have a family history of stroke) — I made my way to the urgent care clinic this morning.
Upon arrival at which, I was informed that “this is NOT an urgent care clinic.”
[cue conversational ridiculousness/]
“Well, your website lists it as such.”
“We are a walk-in clinic.”
“Great. So I just walked in. Let’s go from there!”
[/moving on]
It’s not that I’ve never had this level of pain in my head. It’s also that I’ve never had this duration of pain in my head. But I’ve done a lot of work to eliminate triggers and I have learned to maintain a pretty strict regimen for prevention over the years. Plus I have a good knock-out routine with rescue meds at this point. So when none of my usual things are working, and the pain is not in its normal place and it’s not responding in ‘normal’ ways to treatment…
I get a little nervous.
SO.
Basically I went to a medical clinic this morning because I had a headache.
Which sounds ridiculous, but was necessary.
And when I was done at the clinic, the pain in my head was starting to subside (thank you toradol) because I was given a shot.
In the butt.
And since I’m not used to getting poked in the butt…
[insert guffaw]
…I tensed up for the shot.
Which didn’t help in the ‘ouch’ department.
SO.
I started out sore-headed (and my headache has not gone away yet but it is much more manageable at this point) and I ended up butt-hurt.
So far, this has been [the highlight of] my weekend.
How’s yours?
I think this is just a role perspective thing. Tops aren’t used to their tribulations ending up with butt pain, whereas we subs see this simply as the usual routine. 😉
Feel better.
Ha! Fair enough. 😉
21Dec Mrs F – I remembered that you’re nuts for Christmas songs so please enjoy this one: https://lookhere3.wordpress.com/2022/12/19/sleigh-ride-the-ronettes-1963/
I don’t normally solicit views, in fact never but I wanted to maybe cheer you up a bit ?
Kate
I do love Christmas songs! Thank you! 🌲
I’m sorry you’re in pain but even with a head ouch and a bum ouch you manage a beautifully written humourous post.
I hope you get better soon. I’m pretty certain that butt ouch might last a bit longer than the head one. I had a jab in my deltoid that was inflammed up to 2 weeks later. It was NOT funny. The problem I got the shot for had been long gone by then.
And blessed Christmas to you and yours. May your days be painfree and bright and may all your Christmases be white (but not too much cos snow days are cold days!)

It’s been a long haul. I am trying some things environmentally and dietarily that seem to be helping. I’m also getting a cranial massage next week.
