Scratching, as a sexual marking activity, is something I have mixed feelings about.
As a general rule, I’m not into intentionally leaving marks on my partners (except when I am) and I’m not particularly keen on the ‘ownership’ aspects often associated with marking a partner. There are specific circumstances, however, in which I am prone to slightly…animalistic…behaviors, that _can_ lead to {1} my partner wearing my marks, and/or {2} me wearing marks (often of my own making) and savoring their bruising aftermath. In those instances, it’s fairly rare that those marks are scratches.
When scratches do occur, they are typically either {a} acquired accidentally/incidentally, and/or {b} of the unintentional Woops, I didn’t mean to dig my nails into your shoulder so hard while I was cumming variety.
And to be clear: *I’m* the one doing the scratching in those circumstances. I have ZERO TOLERANCE for being on the receiving end of marking scratches. It’s essentially a hard limit for me. My fair skin scars easily and my tender bits prefer pleasure to pain.
All explanatory caveats aside…
The act of scratching – not of marking, but of scratching – is, I suppose, _kind of_ My Thing™.
- Raking my nails across the back of his neck to get his attention before grabbing a fistful of hair? Check.
- Scratching gently across freshly spanked pink flesh to test his response? Yes.
- Barely brushing the tips of my nails over the head of his swollen sensitized cock? Mmmhmmm…
- Spelling out messages with soft scrapes of letter shapes on his back? Definitely.
But my most preferred method of scratching is much more ‘comfort’ than ‘kink’ and I’ll gladly be on the receiving end of that particular pleasure.
It’s a soothing graze over an unsettling itch. An uninjurious erasure of an end-of-day tingling tickle. Scratch me like that, and I am all cat, arching and purring with 300 kinds of contentment.
And if you do it juuuuuust right…
I’m not opposed to a bit of quid pro quo.
I scratch your back…

You scratch mine.
Thus ends my foray into February Photo Fest!
A special thank you to Molly Moore for hosting this annual event.
And a very special thank you to my regular readers, for indulging my visual whimsy through this past month’s intensive photographic posting schedule.

Thanks. It’s been a challenge!
I really love that you discuss the difference between marking accidentally as kind of an animalistic act and marking with intention as an act of ownership! Many of this week’s posts have made me reflect on the intentionality (or lack thereof) involved in scratching.
It’s one of the things I’ve always intentionally discussed with partners, even when I was young and newly developing my sexuality. It probably has roots in childhood experiences of abuse, but intentional marking is a really big deal to me — I absolutely will not go there without trust, mutual understanding of what it means, and explicit consent.
I vote the photo fest continue indefinitely.
Hahaha! 😉 😀
Well, I’m glad to know at least one person enjoyed it. 🙂 😛
Oh, that is one thing I forgot to mention in my post, was the spelling out of letters and phrases with my partner.

I tend to spell silly things, like his nickname or the type of food I’m feeling hungry for. 😉
Yay for completing February Photofest. Your images have been so fabulous and I really hope you enjoyed the challenge. Thank you for playing along with the madness

Thanks. I did enjoy it. I have a whole new respect for people who create images of their own to post on a daily basis. (I also question their sanity – it’s a crazy amount of work!)
I never claimed to be sane 😉

Hahaha! True enough. 😉
As the Hatter said to Alice when she told him he was mad: All the best people are. 🙂
I love the variety and perspective of your photos this month 🙂 It’s been so fun to visit your page and I’ll be sure to do so more in the future too! xox
Thank you. And likewise! 🙂
Oh I absolutely love to have my back scratched, and sometimes I scratch his too. But what I love even more is when it leaves marks on my skin, as long as the marks doesn’t run over my tattoo 😉
Congratulations on completing the FPF 2018 and thanks for linking to Wicked Wednesday.

I have a scar over the tattoo on my back from being scratched (not in a sexy way), and I definitely don’t want those particular works of body art marred!
Congratulations on 300 weeks! 🙂
Your first two bullet points made me go ung. Yea definitely how I like to be scratched.
Nicely done getting through febphotofest! That’s a great photo.

Thank you!
I’m particularly fond of the squirming and mewly yelps induced by point number two. 😉
A great read as ever Feve. I adore the itchy back scratch thing, but being a nail biter all my life my scratches are hardly noteworthy, though I have made pathetic attempts on partners in the past. But I read your bullet points with a good deal of interest, it’s alway fascinating to see what others do… And yes I’ve enjoyed your entries though I don’t think I made it round to all of them. It’s been an insane month.
It’s been crazy trying to keep up this month, for sure! If I do photofest next year, I’m going to have to figure out a more efficient way to keep up with other people’s entries.
Ah yes, the soothing grazes…I’m with you! Beautiful photo & thoughtful analysis of scratching. xoM
There is a type of nurturing in those kinds of back scratches, I think. It’s very soothing.
There is something primal in me that digs my nails into his back, his growling doesn’t make me stop but spurs me on. But I do love being on the receiving end too, it isn’t necessarily possession marking but I love poking them and reliving the memories.

The growly bit spurring you on… Yeah, I get that. 🙂
