(Consider this an experiment.)

I’m a much better writer than a read-aloud-er, but when I posted my piece about voices, another blogger requested that I post an audio-recorded version of the words I’d written.  If you click the link above, an audio file will download to your device.  Open it and press play if you’d like to listen.  🙂

Thanks. It felt a bit unnatural to me; very formal, like I was reading in church or something. But it was an interesting experiment. 🙂

You write like you have a smoky, husky, older voice, and that’s how I had always imagined it. I was surprised to hear a young, higher pitched Feves. Not disappointed, just unexpected. 😉

It’s pitched a little high on this recording, honestly. I have a mid-range alto, but I found my chest a bit tight, reading into the mic. For some reason I was hyperaware of my breathing.

I used to read some of my poetry and upload to soundcloud. You do have a very pleasant voice, I can’t place the accent in America but it sounds nice. Great enunciation and inflection in your voice, a lovely listen. 🙂

Thanks. I communicate for a living, so I know how important enunciation is; I appreciate that feedback.

My accent kind of goes away when I read, but it’s made up of a mix of influences.

I had elocution lessons when I was yonger to help remove my rougher inner city accent so I have a generic British accent overall. You can hear the influences (especially when I’m under the influence) from my past and peer groups alike.

      Thanks.

Reading aloud is different than just talking. I’m thinking perhaps I’ll do the latter in the future. Like, just chat(ter).
