It’s occurred to me recently that there are certain things I do when working myself up to orgasm (or when someone else is working me up to orgasm) that *might* be kind of an ‘everybody does this’ type thing, but which also might – most probably – be just a ‘me’ thing.
Case in point:
I engage my thigh muscles when I cum.
And by that I don’t mean, I smoosh my lover’s head between my thighs when he’s eating me out. I mean… I *used* to do that, but not so much anymore. And not just because oral sex isn’t so much on the agenda these days. (Not that either of us have anything against oral sex. It’s just that oral sex is sex. And sex is kind of… A Thing™ at the moment.**) Instead, the Thigh Smoosh was sort of a clamp-closed automatic mechanism that I consciously taught myself to stop doing, not least because it caused my spouse a bit of spinal distress in our early years. 😛

What I *do* mean by ‘I engage my thigh muscles’ is that I will purposely work different groups of muscles in my thighs to achieve specific erotic goals. The forced-relax of inner thigh muscles to keep my legs splayed is countermanded/reinforced by tightening the muscles along my outer thighs to maintain position; flexing the small group of muscles at the tops of my thighs in time with the repetitive tighten-release of my PC muscles helps me climb upward toward orgasm when I’m ‘stuck’ on a pleasure plateau; pointed-toe ballet flexing of straight legs will put the sometimes-restless muscular energy from my legs into focus in my quadriceps, which gives me something besides colors to concentrate on when I’m trying to push myself over the edge.
There are a lot of things that happen to/with/around/about my body when I’m experiencing pleasure, and the dichotomy of tension versus relaxation is one that manifests often. It’s in the arch of my back, the splay of my knees; the press of my hips; the electric tension behind my navel and the throat-exposed head-thrown-back heel-dig press of my weight against the mattress.
But regardless of these other parts of my somatic sexual experience, I almost always – in some way or another, and for very express purpose(s) – utilize my thighs.
SO.
I engage my thigh muscles to help myself orgasm.

Thanks. I think some (most?) of my musical references will be easily recognizable, but it all depends greatly on people’s individual tastes. (And, to be honest, I think that age will play into it as well. Because, classic rock.)
I do it too… I have noticed many times that when I tighten my thigh muscles, my orgasms seem to come quicker, and they seem to be more intense. When I want to ‘last a bit longer’, I will myself not to tighten those muscles 😉

Oh, how interesting! I never thought of it as speeding them up, but I suppose the same is true for me in a way, because if I *don’t* engage my thigh muscles, my orgasms can take forever (or simply never come).
This is really interesting. Legs definitely play a big role for me, but a bit different. If I’m put in a strain position, holding a pose for long period, when my legs get exhausted, and then I can suddenly relax, it pushes the strain upward and the relaxation helps me a lot. I think that’s why I like bondage. I can struggle, get exhausted, and the come when I can’t fight it anymore and relax. Hmmm…makes me think.
Your example is intriguing. I find I have a very different kind of orgasm when I force myself to fully relax.
Well, I’ve been on the receiving end of that… and painfully so. There’s nothing more fun than to be, ah, having a snack, girlfriend orgasms and engages those thighs… and you wind up almost getting choked out. Even less fun when she’s got those gams locked around you, she has that happy moment and squeezes… and then I’m checking for a potential cracked rib or, yeah, kinda hard to breathe when you’re being squeezed like she’s part anaconda.
So far, almost every woman I’ve ever been with uses her thighs in this fashion – ya just learn to grin and bear it, you know, provided you don’t pass out or hear something go, “Crack!”

Do you know, Mrs Fever, I hadn’t really thought about it until I read this, but yes, my thighs do tense on the way to orgasm. But I don’t know whether it’s me tensing them, or if the effects of stimulation and the build are causing them to tense without my input. I’ll have to start practising some mindfulness during sex! 👍
It’s quite possibly a bit of both — I think I *learned* to do it, you know? Like I took a natural response and said, “Oh, that works, doesn’t it?!” and then started doing it on purpose, and for more targeted results.
I’ve been doing it so long now though that I couldn’t say when it started, exactly. (Which makes me feel old somehow… Like, “Wait… I’ve been orgasming for HOW LONG now???”) *laugh*
