I found it hard, it’s hard to find
Nirvana, Smells Like Teen Spirit
Oh well, whatever, never mind
.
I never in a gazillion years would have thought I’d find an a-ha moment inside the lyrics of a burnout-band grunge song.
BUT
Those words pretty much sum up my sex life right now.
Sometimes I find it hard (‘it’ being the protuberant part of his body that gets excited about seeing me naked), and sometimes I find it (‘it’ being ‘my arousability’) hard and/or it (‘it’ being my menopausal lack-of-libido) is hard to find.
And I’m like…
Oh well. Whatever.
Never. Mind.

You write words that all premenopausal and menopaused women can relate to, methinks. I feel this.

I’m sorry that you feel this.
But I’m also glad I’m not the only one who feels it! 🙂
I feel it for other health reasons and not menopause yet…. but I have lots of peri-menopause symptoms if that helps. lol
I am a bit nervous about when the time of no libido hits me because we do DD as part of our D/s ……. and I am not going to want to be in trouble if there is no sexual undertone to the whole thing. Spanked for being in trouble and then feeling an emotional connection afterwards but not a sexual one. Eeek. LOL

I feel you so hard on this. First of all, Nirvana-so life changing for me. Secondly, my testosterone dumped this year but I find it going in waves where I’m super horny or could care less. I have an appointment with my OBGYN to discuss testosterone supplements which are supposed to help…something called BioT. You might do some research on this. I’ve also picked up the meno-belly, and that can go away yesterday for all I care.
I had (have? when does it end, exactly?) PCOS so for many years my testosterone was crazy high. It meant I had a high sex drive and rockstar orgasms but it came at a high price to other pieces of my health puzzle.
One thing that (peri)menopause has brought — and whether it’s peri is questionable because I haven’t had a period in YEARS, but again: PCOS) has been “normal” hormone levels. Which means my testosterone is lower than it has ever been but it’s in the normal range. My estrogen and progesterone are normal too, but considering that they used to be low in comparison to my testosterone…
Bluh.
I’ve written a bit about my experience with all this over the past few years, but there is SO MUCH more.

I wasn’t terribly interested in Cobain and company when they hit the music scene, but this particular line of lyrics seems fitting for the Menopausal Meh. 🙂
