…and may your dreams…
I’ve always loved this song.
The melody, the lulling softness in its expressed wishes.
…be realized…
It is an inducement to dream,
If the thundercloud passes rain…
even as the point-of-fact realities sung may interfere with the peacefulness of those dreams.
…so let it rain…
There are times in life when you will feel the thunder,
when trouble rains,
let it rain
when storms break.
…rain on me…
But equally – or, perhaps, unequally – there are times when the sun breaks through.
It will shine.
Tomorrow.
For now:
Sleep… Sleep tonight…

A good night’s sleep sounds good to me as does the nearing end of this alphabet challenge! GAH!
For some reason a different song is stuck in my head now, “In the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight……”

Oh — yes, that one is an earworm!
I’ve never heard this U2 song. I could fall asleep to this easily. This is quite a sad video though. I love U2.
U2’s music saw me through some difficult times; I love their early work.
And yes, this is definitely a “fall asleep” song. I find it soothing.
Oh we sang this during choir a couple of years back. did an acapella version for 3 voices. It was such a beautiful song… i still have the melody float thru my brain every couple of days… in fact it popped into my head the minute i read your title. I’m glad it turned out to be the thing you wrote about.
That sounds lovely. Mixed voices would carry this song beautifully.
Those words are brilliant – listening to this now – I quite liked U2 in the day and his voice is perfectly suited to this song.
Reading fondles comment I can image it being song by a choir. It is a beautiful song

I fell in love with The Joshua Tree album, though Achtung Baby is probably THE album cut by U2. This song was the bonus track on The Unforgettable Fire. I used to rewind my cassette (remember those?) and listen to it over and over again. 🙂
