That ‘n’ This ‘n’ Random Bits

I typed ‘random’ into the free-image search function on Unsplash! and this is what I got.

Some random (or not-so-random) thoughts that have come to mind as a result of other bloggers’ posts I read this week:

  1. If you are going to venture into trampling as a kinky activity, do not start with high heels. Also, balance your weight if you are the one doing the walking so as not to injure the innards of the one prone beneath you. (Or try it with you underneath and your partner above — yes it can be done.) (You can also do a bit of stomping while you’re both lying down.) But if you’re standing up: walk heel-to-toe.
  2. The Paris Wife is a worthwhile read. You don’t have to like Hemingway (I don’t); you *do* have to have a basic understanding that “free love” was not invented in the 1960s.
  3. I appreciate it when people leave comments here. That said: if you don’t feel like commenting, but you came to read, I appreciate that you are reading. And if you read something you like, and you hit the ‘Like’ button… I like that too. 🙂 It tells me that someone is relating to what I’m saying, even if it doesn’t spark further conversation at that precise moment.
  4. Food is getting ridiculously expensive. And yet, for some reason, we’ve been eating at restaurants a lot over the past 10 days or so. That’s gotta stop.
  5. Sometimes things people write make me laugh. Sometimes the things that make me laugh are not *supposed* to make me laugh. But they do.
  6. I think there is a difference between dating for the purpose of trying to find someone to be in a relationship with and ‘dating’ for the purpose of hooking up. But essentially, if you’re going out with someone — regardless of your end goal — isn’t the act of ‘going out’ still “a date”?
  7. Some people don’t know much about mothers. I, however, know far too much about my own mother. Much of that “too much” is stuff I wish I didn’t know.

And some thoughts that have nothing to do with other people’s blogs:

  1. Koo Koo Kangaroo movement videos are a fantastic way to get five minutes of exercise out of your laptop. You just copy their movements. I highly recommend “Superheroes Unite” and “All I Eat Is Pizza.” 😉
  2. I think Squatchy is a fabulous name for a Sasquatch.
  3. Bookmarks make great Valentines.
  4. Pizza is my love language. (see also: #4, above)
  5. My husband thinks we should just move his not-fully-spanked-ness to next year. Which means that for birthday 63 I will have to give him like 471 spanks. I think no.
  6. Prepping tax paperwork is a great reminder that I’m broke.
  7. I got a new sweater that I love. It has pockets. Like so, only mine is black (from Shein):
^NOT ME^

Somehow an entire week has passed by in what feels like only five minutes. I suspect that will be my norm for a while; my posting schedule will likely slow for a bit as a result. But there are several random bits floating about in my grey matter that will require more fleshing-out than a simple list will allow. So when my thoughts align with my schedule such that I can write about those things, I will.

Meanwhile: What random bits are you chewing over this week? I’d love to know. 🙂

I went and googled koo koo kangaroo. The superhero song isn’t my cup of tea but I LOVE THAT IT’S A DANCE-ALONG. Good find! I’ll be looking up some of their other stff.

I’m currently obsessed with A Discovery of Witches. I realise I’m a bit gaga for Matthew Goode. And I feel like I’ve dont NOTHING and TOO MUCH this week. I hope things go back to normal next week.

They have great movement videos. They are geared to kids (obvs) but I think they are great! There is one called Double Scoop (about ice cream) and another one – they’re riding a roller coaster – that you can do sitting down. You might also like the GoNoodle movement video called Squatchy Rocks. 😉

    (Random thoughts in response)

Thinking about dates, I wouldn’t consider myself an experienced dater. However, coffee socials with potential hookups are a regular occurance for me. But I see that as meeting a friend (this being the preferred outcome for a ENM play-mate) rather than a romantic coming together. But I don’t really know, as I’ve only really dated one person properly- dinner, gigs, bar, coffee…

I’ve added the Paris wife to my audible wishlist. It looks interesting and I look forward to adding it to my library.

I’ve always wondered where one begins with trampling. As someone who can’t walk in heels the idea of stumbling and skewered my favourite parts with a killer heel is terrifying!

I’d take a burger over pizza any day. The last burger I had was hawaiian with pineapple fritter and cheese and all kinds of yumminess. I also think pineapple belongs on pizza.

There was a call-in discussion recently on one of the morning radio shows I listen to about pizza toppings. Apparently people have strong feelings about pineapple. *laugh*

    Random responses to random bits:
-I used to read and find I can’t read anything beyond an essay or article anymore. Something definitely changed in me. And actually, given my past, it’s a little scary.
    – After all the stuff lately on ‘comments’………..my current response is “no comment”…..though what I am thinking regarding certain aspects could sear the hide off a rhino. 😉
-What people write is often more eyeroll-inducing than chuckleworthy.
-I know about mothers and ‘mothers’.
-I think “Priscilla” is a good name for a sasquatch.
-Pizza is a good thing when done well. I fully believe topping prejudice is not about flavor but identity.
-Thoughts on money would send me over the edge right now.

And as for my own contribution to random bits from my own perspective? For a few weeks now I find I am angry all the time about everything with only brief respites where I don’t have the energy to maintain it. Once rested, I easily fall back into a repressed , simmering rage. I know you are a superhero fan of sorts, so you’ll understand the reference that if I was unfortunate enough to be Bruce Banner, I’d be green perpetually and likely have levelled several cities by now. Otherwise? Just waiting for Spring.

Yes, I remember you writing a bit about the rage… Is it unusual for you to be set to such a high simmer? I ask because I have a brother for whom rage is a normal state of being. (He once had Incredible Hulk shoes — I wrote about them once, here: https://mrsfever.com/2020/07/15/incredible-hulk-shoes/ ) If it’s not your ‘normal’ though, I do wonder what is at the heart of it. “Other people being stupid” might be a trigger, but I doubt it’s a true *reason*. Only because ‘other people’ and their stupidity is completely outside your/my/anyone-else’s control. Hmmm…

Money… Well, I’m broke. Like, our AGI this year (tax year 2021) is HALF what it was for tax year 2019. BROKE. It sucks.

Priscilla is also a good name for a Sasquatch. I agree. Perhaps that is what Elvis was thinking? 😉

The reading thing: I remember this came up on my “what I read in 2021” post. Is this a since-COVID-happened thing? I know a lot of people (myself included) are experiencing screen fatigue right now due to the Online Everything that’s been happening for the past couple years. It’s affected my willingness to read, and not only on screens. I also feel like my attention span has gotten much shorter as a result of all the blue screen stimulation.

” Is it unusual for you to be set to such a high simmer?”
Yes, because my rage always had to be triggered. It was not a state of being.
” I ask because I have a brother for whom rage is a normal state of being. (He once had Incredible Hulk shoes — I wrote about them once, here: https://mrsfever.com/2020/07/15/incredible-hulk-shoes/ )”
I’ll have to check that out.
” If it’s not your ‘normal’ though, I do wonder what is at the heart of it.”
I discussed this recently with my daughter and explained that I know what’s behind it but can’t seem to make the jump to overriding it. I call it “The Triumvirate of Rage” and it’s an interconnected triangle of three realities I can’t do much about: “Stupidity/hypocrisy—-Injustice—–Power (or lack thereof, meaning people having the power to impose stupidity and injustice on others who have no power to fight back)” I may do a post on this.

I actually met Priscilla at an event where I worked and she was not terribly sasquatchlike, though her fan base is scarier than a herd of them.

“The reading thing: Is this a since-COVID-happened thing?”
No, it happened prior to Covid. I think I could be someone with a degree of undiagnosed ADD and it has gotten worse with age.

          The ADD thing makes sense.

I didn’t know that “fans” were a thing for Priscilla Presley…

About the rage: I hope you can make the jump — response is different than reaction; sometimes the only thing we can control is how we respond.

I am one of those who reads but doesn’t always have something to say. I always think it is a shame that you can’t make that known so I am glad that you value the likes. For some reason that feature doesn’t load right on my blog. I really enjoyed reading your random thoughts and am now thinking about my own! Thank you.

I’m often the same way — I sometimes need time to mull things over, and even then I don’t always feel up to articulating a response.

      Thank you for reading. 🙂

I’m a longtime blogger and erotica writer who’s resuming my blog after a six-year absence, and just about everyone I used to know and follow is gone. I’m looking for interesting bloggers to follow. So, hi. 🙂
