DOUBLE FUDGE BROWNIES

1/4 cup water
2/3 cup butter or margarine
1.5 cups sugar
2 cups (1 package) semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 tsp vanilla
4 eggs
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1.5 cups flour

Directions:  In a large sauce pan over low heat, melt butter into water, then add sugar.  Stir and bring *just* to a boil.  Melt in one package of chocolate chips and remove from heat.  Add vanilla.  Beat in 4 eggs, one at a time.  Stir in soda, salt, and flour.  Bake in a 9×13″ cake pan at 325 degrees (Farenheit) for 50 minutes, or until a knife inserted through the center comes out clean.

Alternate Preparation:  Arthur’s Measure-for-Measure gluten-free flour works great in this recipe.

Servings:  Makes 20 medium-ish brownies (approx. 230 calories each) or 16 hefty ones (approx. 290 calories each).  Or, if you’re like my husband and you think that a whole pan equates a single serving…

…let’s just say I hope you consider your diet when you make your 2019 New Year’s resolutions.

I’m not gonna lie… I’m in the “pan as serving” camp myself. (Well, ok, maybe not a 9×13, but if this were in an 8×8, all bets would be off!)

I love brownies – and this looks like a keeper of a recipe!
    Thanks for playing along. 🙂

You might get away with two 8×8 pans on this recipe, if you don’t mind a bit thinner brownies. 🙂 It’d be less baking time, and net you one whole pan to yourself! 😉

I too am in the pan as single serving camp. Brownies are the sweets equivalent of the little black dress. You can’t go wrong with brownies.

I agree — The past year has been a whoosh!

They are super easy to make, and you’re right — they probably won’t last long! 🙂

      Happy Holidays!

Our resident taste testers confirm: “Yum!” And then: “Well, we need to be absolutely SURE of the yum, so perhaps we’ll try just one more…” 😉
