Saturday Night Fever: Dress{ed}

It would be easy to believe – from viewing the majority of photos on this blog – that I lounge about unclothed most of the time.

(Or that when I *do* wear clothes, the clothes I wear fall exclusively into the category of ‘Christmas sweaters’ or ‘pajamas’. 😛 )

HOWEVER

Regardless of how it may seem…

I really am dressed most of the time. Really!

Yes, even with the Coronapocalypse and having to work from home (which is a less-than-20% thing for me, because What I Do For A Living doesn’t translate well to the home environment), I am still dressed.

Often in jeans.

Sometimes in leggings.

Almost always – this time of year – in boots.

But also — provided they are of the comfortable variety — in dresses.

Like so:

I wore this ensemble (plus an oversized boyfriend-style gray sweater and a muted-colors scarf during the ‘outdoor’ part of my day) to work recently (yes, really — even with the leg showing) and — unlike when I wear pants ensembles, which I feel I must peel off at the first opportunity and trade in for “slipping into something a little more comfortable” — I was so comfy that I was still in it several hours later (post-grocery-shopping and dinner-cooking).

And what with me being ever-so-ladylike and all…

*snort*

I tested its comfy-factor with a good old fashioned SPRAWL.

The verdict:

This particular dress definitely passed the ‘comfortably-dressed’ test.

Oh! And for my blogging friends who are shopping pros (I’m looking at you, Fondles): The dress cost me a whopping $7. Woot! 😉

Ahem.

And now, in my best phone-sex voice:

What are you wearing, hmmm?

.

Saturday Night Fever is my weekly, probably-contains-photos, check-in-with-readers posting project for 2021. The general point being to add a little warmth to your weekend. (Get it? Saturday night? Fever? Weekend warmth?)

Ahem.

Oh I like your look ! Probably because I dress in similar way.. black pants vs the leggings but I love the look of a tunic-length top or short dress over them. And I just don’t feel right unless I wear black knee-high flat boots when I go out. Seemed to be popular in the early 90s but I didn’t copy a fad and still basically dress that way. Why not stick with what we like, eh ?

I’m a fan of the longer lengths in shirts, for sure. The cropped 80s-style tops that are being made again right now? No, thanks!

And all the YES to the boots! 🙂

I am working from home 95% of the time, and still dress as if I go to the office. We set the alarm, shower, get dressed and then come downstairs and log in to work. It’s only on Sundays that I walk around in comfortable clothes/pajamas. Oh, the only thing I don’t wear when working from home, are shoes. I prefer my slippers, and have said that when we return to work mainly at the office, I am taking my slippers with me 😉

I think for those who are stuck working from home full time, when before they would go to an office, “getting dressed” is a way to create boundaries. It’s a physical representation of “this is my work space” in what would otherwise be “home space.”

I have a very cute pair of hippopotamus slippers I wear around the house. My husband teases me about my “hippo feet.” 😛

Super cute outfit. My style completely. I will say, the pandemic has surely changed my closet. I am all about comfort, even when I go out. And now that I am back to work, with real students looking back at me, I am struggling a bit to pull together professional ensembles. I think I forgot how to dress.

I’m pretty sure there are a lot of people in your shoes (in your clothes?) right now, re: trying to remember how to dress. 😉

I’ve had to be dressing for work all along during the Coronapocalypse, but I’ve definitely shifted my focus to comfort over the past few years (mostly due to age) — I’ve always been sensitive to the ‘feel’ of fabrics against my skin, but that seems magnified now; if it’s not soft, I don’t want it touching me!

      Yes — definitely a score!

All that CNY celebration food? The very thought of baking makes me hungry. *laugh*

Right now the Mister and I are making inroads on his birthday cake. It’s so so yummy, but SO many calories! 😱
