And so this is Christmas…

The last few months of this year have been a blur of days. The end of September, during which wildfires choked and hazed, brought with it the beginning of a new health concern for my husband, and in between trying to decipher just what it was we needed to combat for him (while personally pushing ever harder through chronic and worsening migraine pain) left me – by the end of October – in a constant fog of “What day even is it?”

Combined with the off-kilter holiday blitz-shopping (*so* not my usual style; I’m very much a get-gifts-as-you-find-them-through-the-year kind of Christmas shopper, but was unable to shop that way this year — because COVID, obviously) that had to be done in early October (along with trick-or-treat candy shopping at the same time and also QUICK! Get mom’s birthday present while the store is actually open, because it’s gonna shut down again, youknowitwill), with Christmas gifts wrapped and boxed and mailed to family before we even got to Thanksgiving…

I’m kinda like, “Wait… Which holiday are we on again? This is Christmas?”

Also: No baking bloggery this year.

No baking at all really… Though I did toss together some no-bakes. Because, needs must.

I kind of just… didn’t remember to bake, really. (Though ‘the Covid 19’ was a thing for me, and I really don’t want to lose the traction I’ve gained there, so: NO. No baking.)

Somehow, though, I remembered to take some photos halfway through the holiday confuzery.

I just didn’t remember to post any. *laugh*

So I’m remedying that. First, with the Halloween stripey-sock fabulousness above. (No, I don’t care that today is Christmas; I’m posting Halloween-ery.)

And second, with the previously-mentioned threat idea I shared about showing off my sartorial silliness in terms of Christmas sweater fantabulous-ness. As below:

Holy pajamas, Batman! It’s almost Christmas! [NSFW]

LAST WEEK

He stands next to my bed, going through his tuck-me-in routine, and taking his sweet time about it because I’m feeling him — well, actually, I’m feeling the pajamas he’s wearing because they are softsoftsoft — while he’s doing it.

“Nice rubbages,” he says.

(Everything in our marital language is prone to have an added -age; hugs are ‘huggages’ and a liquid libation is ‘drinkage’ — it’s a thing.)

“I like your jammies,” I tell him.

“Hmmm…” is the pleasured sound he responds with as he turns out my light.

Feeling Blue

…in which, my husband actually goes about feeling blue…

I mentioned recently that pajamas are my favorite clothes to wear, yes?

So — because there are just not enough jammies in my life (seriously, my long-worn and much-loved nighttime attire is LACKING; too many pairs have recently gone from the laundry hamper to the trash bin because they’re just plain worn out!), I took myself to the store last weekend to attempt to remedy that.

My shopping trip netted me one {1} super-soft comfy-cozy pair of fleecy blue pajamas, as seen above. (At an out-of-pocket cost of only $6.50, because I am a championship sale shopper and I know how to wield a coupon!)

Super. Soft.

Right?

So I put said jammies on for their first wear and was walking around the house humming with comfy pleasure and generally petting myself (because hello SOFTNESS — you would be all ‘petpetpet’ too!) when my husband was like, “Um, why are you… Feeling… Yourself… UP?”

Me: Oh, am I?
Him: Uhmmm…
Me: It’s my new pajamas. They’re super soft. Wanna feel?

.

At which invitation, he promptly jumped up from his seat…

…and felt

…by running his hands over the fabric.

.

.

.

Specifically, by running his hands over the fabric covering my breasts.

.

Me: Smotch! I didn’t ask you if you wanted to feel me UP!
Him: (still petting) Errr… What?
Me: You’re supposed to be feeling my jammies. See? My new blue jammies?
Him: Oh. Um, I was.
Me: (skeptical) And?
Him: And they feel really good on you!

.

They do indeed…

…and now I have a completely different idea of what it means to be “feeling blue.”

Making a list, checking it twice…

Lists

As a general rule, I’m kind of haphazard when it comes to lists. Oh, I’ll write down the things I need to pick up from the grocery store so I don’t forget. I create playlists for my music. And I’ll make a chore list when my husband and I set out to complete major home-related tasks. I keep track of the books I’ve read on my Goodreads lists. I write down how much money I spend, where I spend it, and why. And I often find torn bits of opened envelopes covered in jigger-jotted nonsense that – I’m sure – meant something to me at one time (because I wrote it down!) but that I’m at a loss to decipher when I come across it weeks/months later.

Mental lists… Those, I make. But those lists are a bit like a low-powered app that just constantly runs in the background on an electronic device; they don’t wear down my battery, they rarely need to be addressed or backed up, and they are so “everyday” that they don’t serve any particular purpose. Things like, “start a new cycle in the washing machine before you leave the house” and “feed the cat” (I miss my cat…) are so autopilot that — while yes, they are Things On The List — they don’t really count.

But checklists for daily tasks? Outlines for business-related endeavors? Idea lists for things to do on vacation or restaurants to try?

Nope.

And those famed “lists of things to write about” that are supposed to be oh-so-helpful when you’re not feeling creative?

Nope. Nope, I do not have one of those.

I could make one though.

And that, I think, is exactly what I will do – right now – with you.
