April A-to-Z Blogging Challenge

21 Comments on April A-to-Z Blogging Challenge

In April, I will be participating in the A to Z Blogging Challenge.

Starting tomorrow, you will see 26 posts over the next 30 days: one for each letter of the alphabet. Sexy, silly, sartorial; foodie, photographic, filial, and just plain FUN. (Possibly of the ‘mature audiences only’ variety. πŸ˜‰ )

Stay tuned.

AND: If you are a sex blogger (or a reader/supporter of those of us who are) and are planning to participate, please drop me a link in the comments section so I know to come visit you on your alphabetical explorations. πŸ™‚

Let the creative vocabulations begin! πŸ˜‰

Ah, I have decided not to participate this year, and now that I see your post, in a way I regret my decision… but it’s too late now to plan it in… I will be reading your posts though πŸ™‚

I really debated whether to do it or not, because last year even though I loved the writing exercise, I was less than thrilled with the organizers’ lack of…

      Well, their lack. Period.

So this year I’m just not going to knock myself out reading other people’s posts; I will focus my energy on my fellow sex blogging peeps and on my own content and just have fun with it. πŸ™‚

I know one thing that was discussed after last year’s challenge was allowing people to join up through the 15th and also welcoming people to post how ever many letters they could manage, without an “all or nothing” caveat. So if you wanted to – and when you wanted to – you could probably still participate. πŸ™‚

Well, you know *I* will be following along…
    It’ll be fun. πŸ˜€

I feel compelled to defend the organizers, tho. It can be a bit klunky at times but the trouble is that the challenge has ballooned into something far too large for its format. They try to be responsive and make changes based on the input but if people can’t read and/or follow directions, there’s not much else they can do. It’s a thankless job to herd cats…
(This empathy brought to you courtesy of the year I had 40 participants in the cookie exchange. I came desperately close to hopping in my car and driving to people’s homes to beat them with sticks. I simply cannot imagine trying to organize anything with over 400 people. I need a drink just thinking about it!)

So I agree that it’s best to just be mellow about it all. I cherry-pick who I want to visit, skipping gleefully past topics that do not interest me and blogs with writing that does not engage me (or -occasionally- actually makes me wince.)

I’m sorry… I appear to have written a book in your comments section.
My apologies. (Altho’ you’ll notice I left it there! ;-p)

Ha! Not the book I’d have thought you’d write. Something with ‘Spock’ in the title seems more fitting somehow. πŸ˜‰

I get the herding cats thing. I just think that with 6-8 people heading the project, at least ONE of them should be able to visit each participant some time throughout the month. That’s only 2-3 blog visits per organizer per day. But I also recognize that my expectations are high, and based on the way “my” people approach the projects they organize. Which your Cookie Exchange example illustrates perfectly! πŸ™‚

Maybe we should do a Sex Blogging A-Z and make it a year-long thing. Fifty-two weeks, 26 letters… The math makes sense, and we could all take our leisurely time about it!

I am thinking about doing this and Missy said you usually participate – I am not sure I understand what goes on Feve. We do a post every day, then include the badge, does that link somewhere? so we link our posts or the category to a page? Sorry for being a pain!

If you click the A to Z link in my post, it takes you to the main page. You can get letter badges there and/or the main badge.

How you link is up to you (link the badge to the A to Z main page or by letter day or to the Google docs list of signed-up participants, etc.), but there is a sign-up list you’ll want to put your name on so other people can find you. After that, you just post once for each letter of the alphabet and visit whoever you choose from the list of sign-ups.

If you have trouble/confusion, let me know. I know they tweet stuff, so you might be able to find out more on that format as well. πŸ™‚

Thanks! I kind of used this time last year to just share some random bits of life/humor without necessarily sticking to sex/y, and that’s what I’ll be doing this year as well.

(And thank goodness for being able to pre-schedule posts, so I don’t get overwhelmed!)

I hummed and hawed and decided to go for it again this year, so I will be joining you and will make sure to check out your entries. I regretted it a bit last year (the words never again may have been uttered) as my ideas grew too big and were hard to sustain. I always start small and then get caught up. Hoping it will be manageable this year and fit with the other things I want to do. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. missy xx
