I think there must be something seriously wrong with me.

Because as soon as I finished writing my final post for this year’s A-to-Z Challenge*, I was already thinking about ALL THE WAYS to approach the challenge next year.

Like, I could:

  • do some sort of books & authors thing — starting with Dame of the British Empire: Agatha Christie [ABCDE — Woot!], or
  • choose words that end in ABC, such as:
    • iota
    • Zagreb
    • Cadillac (ooh — a subset: words that start and end with the same letter!)
    • dandified
    • edamame
  • use words in which the first letter repeats at some point (C is for Coccyx, G is for Guggenheim, etc.)
  • work backwards and forwards at the same time, ala A, Z, B, Y, C, X, D, V, etc.
  • use previous blog posts I’ve published as alphabetical inspiration, like:
    • [inspired by Aflame] — How To Use Hot Wax To Create Hot Sex
    • [inspired by Bookworm] — 20 Ridiculous Things You Wish YOUR Husband Would Say to YOU
    • [inspired by Clotheslined] — How, exactly, did I not kill myself playing Tarzan as a child?
  • etcetera

I am such a word nerd.

Anywhoo…

There’s also:

  • fabulous finds
  • family
  • feelings
  • finances
  • finding out __________
  • flights of fancy
  • food
  • foolishness
  • forking (& spooning!)
  • future plans

And that’s just a smidgen of the ‘f’ possibilities!

*grin*

So yeah… Most people are like, “Whew! Glad that’s over!” at the end of the A-to-Z and I’m like, “I have 27,981 ideas to sort through before I can start on next year!”

๐Ÿ˜›

Again: Yes… There is probably something seriously wrong with me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Or else maybe I’ve just figured out how to make this work for me now that I’ve finished my fourth go-round. ๐Ÿ™‚

A few statistics, for those of you who are into that sort of thing (or who would just find it helpful because maybe you were new to this challenge and aren’t sure what it ‘looks like’ for others):

  • I posted 19 times in the month of April
  • The most ‘Liked’ post (and the one with the most comments) was about my namesake
  • The post with the most views was – oddly – a book review (of sorts)
  • Total comments (and this includes my own) for the month = 243
  • Engagement Average = 12 comments per post**

WINS:

  1. Regular readers of this blog joined in writing for the challenge themselves (shout out to all of you!), some for the very first time.
  2. People who visited this blog once – as a result of clicking through from the A-to-Z master list – either {a} stuck around for more, or {b} came back again later.
  3. People I ‘met’ through the challenge last year returned to visit, and I – in turn – was able to read what they were writing for this year’s challenge.
  4. I found some great new blog/gers to follow and read on the reg.
  5. I was inspired by the creative shares of enough participants that I have decided to start a new writing project around the topic of Inspirations. Expect a post about this soon!

.

If you played along, I’m curious:

How was this year’s A-to-Z for you?

The A-to-Z Blogging Challenge is an annual interwebs-wide event. Click the badge to find out more.

My theme for this year’s challenge was Music as Muse. You can see all my challenge posts here.

.

*Y, if you’re curious. I write ahead, and not necessarily in alphabetical order. So the first post I wrote (in January — yes, really) for this year’s challenge was my ‘H’ post. The last post I wrote (on April 25th, scheduled for the 29th) was for ‘Y’.

**Last year, this number was 13 (you can see those stats here) — considering that my overall page views are down from last year (do you want me to talk about this? I can…), I am quite pleased with this number.

I already look forward to your A to Z next year, as I just know you will come up with something good. And who knows, maybe next year I will join in again too ๐Ÿ™‚

The tough letters are especially fun to get creative with — U thru Z feel like the final steep incline on a mountain climb! *laugh*

        Thanks for reading. ๐Ÿ™‚

There must be something wrong with me too. I wished we could do it all over again in May! Iโ€™m glad I wasnโ€™t the only one that was excited instead of relieved when it was over!

at the end of it I actually thought maybe when I do this again next year, I wont combine letters, just so i’d have MORE POSTS TO WRITE. Hahah. I’m semi-nuts too!

    Loved taking part.

(Also you’re not a word nerd, you’re clearly a word AND numbers/stats nerd!)

I”m curious… does one change the A-Z logo to the A-Z winner logo if one has completed the challenge? Or can i just leave the original logo on the blog?

      Thanks!

I think the link list for reflections posts closed on May 8, but you can – of course! – write your reflections on the A-to-Z process any time. ๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe one year I will push myself to do the A-Z challenge, it seems as if it would be very satisfying to complete, and I love the wordplay of finding a theme and working it in. Currently I have too many balls in the air, but will do it – it’s important to make time to read the other participants’ offerings too – and that’s another place I’d fail just now.

I do admire how things like this pull a community together – you rock Mrs Fever, as I’m sure you’re music-themed A-Z has proved!

It’s fun, but it’s also a lot of work — I think you’re right though in how it’s quite satisfying to complete.

I look forward to having you join me in the future! ๐Ÿ™‚
