Absurdities

At a time when I am working double but earning half, when the non-refundable trip I’ve planned for and paid for is growing closer by the hour alongside the looming uncertainty of whether or not we’ll actually be able to go, when the introduction of something completely unforeseen and outside my own control has thrown a monkey wrench in the the works where life and livelihood are concerned…

…I’m damned glad I have friends who GET IT. And who ‘get’ me.

Absurdity.

It’s what’s for dinner.

(And in all seriousness: Ridiculous humor sustains me in a way nothing else does.)

In general, I agree with you.

Unfortunately, I live in an area with a high number of confirmed cases. My job takes me to places where most folks don’t go. Therefore, being forced under quarantine is the risk I’m most concerned with at this point.

Provided that doesn’t happen (fingers, toes, knees, and elbows crossed!), we should be good to go.

Warmth! … craving it as I look at PNW sunshine out my window but know that in spite of looking so inviting it is still COLD! …
Ugh! … that’s the one type of trip/travel that is the most ‘iffy’ these days … I hope it all works out for you somehow …

I just got an email from the airline. I live in WA state, so there will be hurdles to clear at the airport as well as at the dock (if we get there).

I’m trying to think positive thoughts! I need warmth and sunshine!

Well, it sounds ridiculous to say I _need_ to go to Hawaii. But this is a culmination of 17 years of waiting. So I really really WANT to go.

The old philosopher says: When the blind man of indiscriminately ill fortune fumbles into your life and promptly treads heavily all over your prize petunias, the only comfort you can take in it is that he’ll eventually stumble over the wall into the next door neighbor’s place – you know the one – the guy who cuts his lawn with nail clippers.

I know you want to go. And a vacation in WARMTH AND SUNSHINE is really good for keeping this darned virus at bay….

BUT do be extra cautious. Take it from someone who lives in the far east. It’s not funny. And we’re kinda glad for the lockdowns here, cos while we’re responsible enough to know not to go out and spread the damned germs around if we’re ill, there are plenty of assholes who don’t care about their community… and the need for a lockdown is to limit said asses from wandering about and shoving their germs into everyone else’s faces.

Please please stay safe and DON’T touch your face at all whatever you do if you are out and about.
