Aladdin

“I can show you the world.”

β€” Aladdin

She calls him Aladdin.

My sister — who is dating, though somewhat half-heartedly, post-divorce — is seeing (was seeing? who knows; I’m not sure if it’s still ‘on’ — I don’t keep track) a guy who is, according to my soon-to-be-seven-year-old niece, “always taking her places.”

My sister calls him 2.

Because apparently, the guy my sister is dating has the same first name as the guy she divorced. So to keep them straight in casual reference, they are ‘1’ (which is baby daddy) and ‘2’ (flavor of the moment).

My youngest niece, though… She calls 2 ‘Aladdin’.

My sister and Aladdin are apparently constantly going on outings (with or without one or more of their children; he comes equally encumbered with offspring as she does, from what I understand) and this has made an impression upon my sister’s youngest daughter (who happens to be my namesake).

And I think this ‘Aladdin’ business is brilliant.

BECAUSE

“Why do you call him Aladdin, honey?” my sister asked her.

“Because he’s always taking you places,” she explained to her mom. “He wants to show you the world.”

Oh, I love this beautiful song and now I will have it stuck in my head all day, but that is a good thing since it’s a good song. Love your nieces observation that “he’s always taking her places.” Kids come up with some of the most great one liners. I also laughed at 2. Clever. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog. ABC almost killed me. Laughing….. I hope I am able to hang ! Hugs, Windy

It is a bit of an earworm, isn’t it? πŸ˜‰

Your ABC post was beautiful! (And way better than Apples Bananas Canada– lol.) And since the challenge is set up for Sundays off, you really don’t have to do D (or D+) until Monday. So you’re ahead of the game! πŸ™‚

I knew someone married to a β€œPeter”. When they divorced she started dating again again. Her new boyfriend was also called Peter so she referred to him as β€œRepeater”. I love the reference to β€œAladdin”. He sounds like a keeper.

I never really do it “the right way,” but yes — the challenge is set up for Sundays off (30 days in the month, 26 letters = 4 Sundays off).

If it helps, according to that schedule:

      Next week = letters D thru I
      April 12-17 = letters J thru O
      April 19-24 = P thru U
      April 26-30 = VWXYZ

Kids are so funny — the way their minds work, especially when you can see that they’ve REALLY THOUGHT IT OUT is quite delightful. πŸ™‚
