Saturday Night Fever: Perfect Bottoms

monster cookies

One would think, given the title of this post, that the content might be related to… y’know… bottoms.

And it is about bottoms.

It’s just NOT about derrieres.

If you get my drift. 😉

So remember when I told y’all about my momma’s monster cookies? (They’re healthy! They have peanut butter in them! *laugh*)

Well, pretty much the recipe I have in my (hand-written) recipe book and the one I actually FOLLOW are two different things.

So this week, on my day off, I decided to do a bit of pantry-scoping and the result was that I baked (my version of) monster cookies. During said baking exercise, I also wrote down — on a side-by-side page of the original recipe — my recipe for monster cookies (which today included raisins, because raisins are healthy! *laugh*) -AND- additionally futzed about with figuring out the right temp & time to bake them at. Because one of the things that my mother’s instructions does NOT include is THAT pertinent detail.

And the reason I did this?

Because, I’m just gol-darned sick and tired of BAD BEHINDS:

burnt bottom of cookie
350 degrees at 8 minutes is a hard NO, thank you!

And even though my husband is all about the burned bottoms (in more ways than one), I absolutely cannot stand them.

So I lowered the oven temp, shortened the time…

And voila!

PERFECT BOTTOMS:

monster cookie with golden bottom
325 degrees at 7 minutes for golden cookie booty! WOOT!

And y’know…

It’s such a small thing.

But really, having the proper bottoms just makes life a bit more delicious. 😉

.

What sort of deliciousness are you enjoying this week, hmmm?

It’s on the caption to the “good” picture. 🙂

      325°F at 7 minutes.

They will look wet/mushy when you take them out, but they are done!

Let them cool a bit before taking them off the pan.

YUMS! this weekend I baked more granola bars. well, i was too lazy to cut them into squares so i just broke them off into chunks. they seem to be a hit with the boss (who won’t eat any oats otherwise), the lady doctor (who is a bit of a health nut), and BIKSS – who loves my chunky bits <- not a euphemism!

      Ha! Your chunky bits! 😉

It will soon be “take a break from, all things Kitchen” for me — I rarely cook or bake in the summer months — but these last quite well and make for good 100-calorie energy snacks, so I figured I’d take advantage of the cool weatger while I can!
