Llamas

I like llamas.

Those of you who have been reading this blog for a long time will be aware that I have llama socks and that I wrap Christmas presents in wrapping paper sporting llamas on the design. Those of you who have been around for a long Long time might remember that one of the things I enjoyed when I first moved to the island I currently live on is that one of my fellow islanders once had a llama. And those of you who have been around for a long Long LONG time might remember that I have a collection of boots — some of them of the ‘cowboy’ variety — and that Tony Llamas might be something I’d like to have decorating my feet. ๐Ÿ™‚

Other things you might know about me if you’ve been reading for a while — particularly if you’ve read my previous A-to-Zs — is that I collect things. One of the things I collect is salt and pepper shakers. Another thing I collect is cookie jars.

SO

Take one {1} tendency to like All Things Llama, and combine with {2} my collecting habit.

Shake well.

Mull while thrifting.

Remove approximately $17 from wallet.

And voila!

This is what you get!

yikes… I need to dust!

A small collection of llamas.

(Which, as my previous experience with collections has shown, is just the beginning. *laugh*)

.

This year I’m asking (and answering!) questions for my A-to-Z project.

In this post I’ve shared something I have an affinity for and which, as a result, I have started collecting in ways that make me happy. For me, that’s llamas.

So my question to you, dear reader, is:

Is there a particular type of animal you have an affinity for? And/or: What do you collect?

Rosa is from Peru as are (obviously) my step-kids. Llamas are not unknown in this house and there are plenty of representations in various forms. My grandson also has a few llama baby books. There’s a whole series of them by Anna Dewdney actually. Me? I prefer alpacas……………………as steak. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Ha! …as steak. *laugh*

There is an alpaca farm near me. They use the wool for scarves and hats and such, which get sold at very large prices in a very small boutique.

Llamas are wonderful, and so is your collection. And no doubt presents wrapped in llama paper are extra fabulous. Perhaps it won’t surprise you to know I collect salt & pepper shakers as well. ๐Ÿ™‚ My delight are vintage anthropomorphic fruits and veggies.

Oh, I find those delightful! I collect huggers and pretty much any S&P that goes with one of my cookie jars. I have a lot of Shawnee and American Bisque as a result.

I did not know you are a llama mama. Are you also a knick knack Paddy whack? Sorry, just running on coffee only so far today. LOL

I collect dust. And I collect fish ….real ones…..so I can eat them! Never had one mounted and I don’t plan on it. I wouldn’t want it staring at Storm and me while we’re nekkid.

I guess this poem is well known to you:

    (Poem #1080) The Lama
    The one-l lama,
    Heโ€™s a priest.
    The two-l llama,
    Heโ€™s a beast.
    And I will bet
    A silk pajama
    There isnโ€™t any
    Three-l lllama.

I donโ€™t collect things because Iโ€™m trying to declutter (unsuccessfully). My husband collects ducks and is always on the lookout for another. My favourite is a Loon from Canada.

Oh, that’s a fun animal to collect! I have a Metlox “Puddles” duck cookie jar (the duck is wearing a raincoat) that gives me a smile every time I see it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Love your llama S & P, and cool you have been collecting them. I like llamas, too. I have a collection of salt & pepper shakers, different novelty ones. My favorite thing to collect is anything that’s a tiger. ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you ever seen the movie Hatari!, with John Wayne? It’s set in Africa and there is a lot to do with elephants — the photographer ends up as “mama tambo” and basically adopts three baby elephants as the story progresses. The joy in the movie is more about animals and scenery than plot. But if you like elephants, you might enjoy it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Cute llamas! They are fondly admired in our house too. And Tony Lamas are my favorite footwear. I own 3 pair. My first pair lasted 17 years and managed re-soles.
