Those of you who read here regularly will know that if there is one thing I enjoy playing with (besides my husband) it is words. I have been known to write an entire piece of fiction centered around a pun, for instance. My sense of humor is largely based in the {mis}use/{re}application of language; my spouse knows he can make me laugh with a well-placed deadpan bit of linguistical nonsense, and it delights me to no end to see my young niece already using these skills with alacrity.
So I’m sure you can imagine my gratified grin at hearing, on the classical radio station I listen to, an unexpected play on words when I had the rare opportunity to listen at noon one day and heard the announcer invite us all to take a seat and enjoy our Bach’s lunch.
Bach’s lunch.
BOX LUNCH!
Baaahaahaha!
I laughed out loud.
And then I enjoyed some Bach while I listened to ate my lunch. 😉

for the April A-to-Z Blogging Challenge: Letter L
(my ‘L’ post last year was also based around laughable language)
My A-to-Z Challenge theme this year is Music as Muse.
To see what the challenge is about (or to see this year’s list of participants), click the badge above.
To see who’s playing from this little community of mine, please see here. (I’ve been updating the participant list as I find people, but I only have one pair of eyes [which sometimes fail me!], so if I’ve missed anyone, please let me know!)
And if you’re visiting from the A-to-Z, please say hello in the comments below!
We always have the radio on softly and since I sit right next to it, I hear the most. So many times it happens that I am the one laughing out loud because of what I hear – love the play on words – and then have to try and explain the joke to Master T. It never works, but I still have fun!

It can be hard to explain, even when it’s obvious why it should be funny. Humor often hits our funny bone because it’s so “in the moment” — trying to redo/retell that moment… It loses something in the translation.
Haha Bach’s Lunch. My Uncle Joe was a great punster.
I’m on my 6th year of A-Z, I really enjoy it.
This year, I’m posting:
A-Z Art work: https://www.anne-m-bray.com/blog
and
A-Z Shoes: https://repeatsamb.blogspot.com/search/label/A-Z%202021
I saw your shoe collection — very fun! 🙂
BIKSS and I play with our words with each other ALL the time. It’s probably one of the main reasons we were able to stay friends over the decades – a shared bit of fun.
And I quite enjoy a Bach suite every now and again.

I like his piano exercises — inventions, preludes, and fugues — as well as some of his cantatas. I think a lot of people gravitate to the Brandenburg Concertos; I’m not entirely sure I’m pulled in that direction, but one nice thing about Bach as a composer is that there are so many forks in the musical road. 🙂
hahaha That’s a good one you heard. I really like things like this and sure get a laugh from them. 🙂
Me too. A good one that takes me by surprise is always a welcome tickle to my funny bone! 😉
I have a feeling I will occasionally think of this and giggle off and on for a while.
Right?!
It’s such a simple, silly thing. But sure to make you smile! 🙂
I would have laughed out loud, too. I love nerd humor. Little makes me happier than a play on words.
YES. *laugh*
I love language. It’s so much fun to play with!
You niece sounds a delight! Chip off the ol block – we may say here in SE UK!!

I always enjoy a well-timed play on words. The Bach’s Lunch caught me by surprise. Thanks for today’s smile.https://gail-baugniet.blogspot.com
Isn’t that fun? It caught me by surprise too. 🙂
